hi, i am a newbie, so i hope you'll not be hurt by my answer.working on a MacBookPro RETINA 15' with SSD, 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 gb ram, upgraded to Yosemite on half october.
something strange happened to my vlc installation or on my system once i've use a system cleaner software a little ago.
if i run VLC with a double click, nothing happens. the same if i double click on a file (associated with VLC, like a video file).
i tried to re-download and reinstall a lot of times. even after my upgrade to yosemite, nothing changed (as i hope).
i am really afraid about, because i love VLC. tried other softwares, working fine. but i like vlc.
the only way to let start VLC is: click with right button, select 'show package content', then going to contentsMacOS and open the VLC executable file by a double click. that way opens a Terminal Window and VLC.
the application works fine, opening and playing everything. but to exit app the only way is to force exit, no other way.
can someone help me to restore the normal (easy) way of use of VLC, i guess would be a string to type on terminal... to make a miracle!
thank you all to anyone is reading till the end my post and to anyone could help me.
i apologize my bad english, i hope to be understandable just enough...
thank you

Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple.
