What is Eagle software?

Opening a Project and Explore EAGLE is packaged with a handful of nifty example PCB designs. Open one up by expanding the 'Projects' tree. From there, under the 'examples' folder open up the 'arduino' project by double-clicking the red folder (or right-clicking and selecting 'Open project').

EAGLE is a scriptable electronic design automation (EDA) application with schematic capture, printed circuit board (PCB) layout, auto-router and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) features. Schematics are stored in files with .SCH extension, parts are defined in device libraries with .LBR extension. Parts can be placed on many sheets and connected together through ports.
The PCB layout editor stores board files with the extension .BRD. It allows back-annotation to the schematic and auto-routing to automatically connect traces based on the connections defined in the schematic.

• I am an EAGLE USER and need to use files with components made in PADS or ALTIUM. Their extension is.pcb. However, the import does not work. Pointing to the path of these files in the library and making that library available to the schematic or board files, does not help. Any suggestions?
• Open your EAGLE file, then click the ULP icon. (See Figure 2) Navigate to the pcbgcode folder located in Documents eagle externalusr-lang-prog. Select the pcb-gcode-setup.ulp file and click Open. If you want to associate a file with a new program (e.g. my-file.PCB) you have two ways to do it. The first and the easiest one is to right-click on the selected PCB file. From the drop-down menu select 'Choose default program', then click 'Browse' and find the desired program. The whole operation must be confirmed by clicking OK. The second and more difficult to do is associate the PCB file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
